1. The service

SEO Metrics API ("we", "us") is a metrics gateway: it retrieves, caches and serves SEO and web-traffic metrics sourced from third-party data providers, through an HTTP API, a free online checker and this website. It is operated as an independent service.

2. Accounts & API keys

A free API key is issued per email address through the signup form. The plaintext key is shown exactly once; we store only a cryptographic hash of it and cannot recover it — if you lose it, create a new one. You are responsible for keeping your key secret and for all requests made with it. We may revoke keys that violate these terms or abuse the service; revocation does not erase usage records.

3. Plans, credits & fair use

Quotas and prices are those published on the pricing page. One credit corresponds to one request that reaches a data provider; requests answered from our cache cost zero credits. An exhausted quota answers HTTP 429 — we do not bill overage. Prices may change; paying customers get at least 30 days' notice.

The free checker is limited to a small number of runs per visitor per day behind a captcha. That limit is a term of use, not merely a technical control: automating, scripting or otherwise circumventing the checker's captcha or limits is prohibited — the API with a free key is the supported way to automate.

4. Acceptable use

You may embed API responses in your own products, reports and dashboards. You may not:

  • resell or republish raw API responses as a bulk competing dataset;
  • use the service for unlawful purposes or to infringe others' rights;
  • attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, quotas or the captcha;
  • misrepresent the data as your own measurement or as an official figure from any provider.

Attribution is welcome but not required.

5. Data sources & accuracy

Authority and organic-traffic metrics are retrieved from the Ahrefs API under our own subscription. Visit totals, engagement and related metrics come from third-party Similarweb-style datasets. All figures are estimates, provided AS IS, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Ahrefs, Similarweb or Semrush; their names are used only to describe the kinds of data involved.

6. Privacy

What we store, in full:

  • your email address, as the label on your API key;
  • a SHA-256 hash of your API key — never the plaintext;
  • a SHA-256 hash of visitor IP addresses, used only to enforce the free tool's daily limits, kept for days, not months;
  • per-request usage accounting: endpoint, cache status, credit cost, status code and timing — the data behind your /v1/usage report.

We do not sell personal data, run advertising, or set first-party tracking cookies. The Cloudflare Turnstile captcha used on our forms may set its own cookies under Cloudflare's privacy policy. To have your account data deleted, email support@seometricsapi.com; usage accounting may be retained in anonymized form for bookkeeping.

7. Payment & refunds

Paid upgrades and credit packs are currently arranged by email invoice. Monthly plans can be cancelled any time and simply lapse back to the free tier at the end of the paid period. Unused prepaid credit packs are refundable pro-rata within 14 days of purchase.

8. Liability

The service is provided as is and as available. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for business decisions made on estimated metrics, or for interruptions caused by upstream data providers.

9. Changes & contact
